Have you attended an event at the Grand Theatre? If so, you know what a wonderful building it is, both structurally and historically. We are very fortunate to have this architectural gem in our midst, but to maintain it requires much work , time and money. Our “Remember The Grand” campaign which has a goal of $15,000 will help us keep this important part of downtown Keokuk viable, so that it can continue to provide the many services that it has in the past.
The Grand Theatre hosts a myriad of events including area and national performers, dance recitals, concerts, meetings, classes, commencements….the list goes on. It is truly a Community Center. However the rental income from the variety of users throughout the year only meets approximately half of our operating costs. For the last 27 years, the balance of needed funds has been derived from grants and from the generosity of donors such as yourself.
This fund –raising effort will continue through November, at which time a reception will be held on the stage of the theatre for all donors. We thank you for any tax-deductable gift you might donate to support the operation of the theatre.
Provided by the WALMART FOUNDATION AND THE GRACE BOTT MILLAR CHARITABLE FOUNDATION KSB the Grand Theatre installed and has available a listening system designed to permit all patrons with a hearing loss or patrons with hearing aids the ability to reduce their hearing loss during a performance at the Grand Theatre.

In October of 1987 the City of Keokuk formed the Grand Theatre Commission consisting of fifteen community volunteers to manage the Theatre at no cost to the tax payers. The Grand Theatre Commission has established an impressive record of improvements in the facility and it has been comprised of many dedicated and innovative citizens over the years. All of the past and current commission members have contributed greatly to the success and current excellence of the Grand and with their involvement, their sincere love for the facility and their hard work in making it the best that it can be the Grand Theatre would not have survived.
